IMPORTANT NEWS:
- It is with sad regret that due to diminishing membership the decision has been taken to cease holding club nights.
In addition the club will no longer be represented in local leagues.
Club History
2024/25
- The club has to all intents and purposes ceased to exist.
2023/24
- The club continues to enter teams in local Leagues but club nights remain suspended.
2022/23
- The West Dorset League resumes with altered competitions and the club enters teams into both the Mixed2x2 and ThreeOne leagues.
- The Mixed2x2 team finish runners-up.
- Membership is hit hard following Covid and is at an all-time low.
- With membership decreasing club nights are suspended at the end of the season.

2019/20
- The season is interrupted by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. All badminton stops.
2018/19
- The club relocates once more, this time to Gryphon Sports Centre in Sherborne.
- The West Dorset team win Division 2 and are promoted.
- They also win the WD Knock-Out Plate.
- Will Marks is runner-up in the WD Veterans Tournament.
- Will and Alison Stephens win the WD Divisional Tournament (Div 2).
2017/18
- The club decide to withdraw the 1st team from the West Dorset League.
- The West Dorset team lose the WD Knock-Out Plate Final.
2016/17
- Jason Banfield and Andrew Frampton win the SES Level Doubles Division 1.
- Jason Banfield and Janet Martin win the SES Miller Tournament.
2015/16
- The South-East Somerset 1st team retain the SES Knock-Out Cup.
- The West Dorset 2nd team lose the WD Knock-Out Cup Final.
- Dave Calway wins the WD Handicap Tournament (Mens Doubles).
- Dave Calway and Richard Grigg win the SES Level Doubles Division 3.
2014/15
- The South-East Somerset 1st team win the SES Knock-Out Cup.
- The West Dorset 2nd team win the WD Knock-Out Cup.
- Bryan Collins and Jackie Malton win the WD Veterans Tournament for the 2nd consecutive year.
- Simon Martin and Angela Strange win the WD Divisional Tournament (Div 2).
2013/14
- Bryan Collins and Jackie Malton win the WD Veterans Tournament.
- Stephen Rowell wins the WD Handicap Tournament (playing with Brenda Jones from Casterbridge).
- Stephen and Janet Martin win the WD Divisional Tournament (Div 2).
2012/13
- The South-East Somerset 1st team lose the SES Knock-Out Cup by a couple of points.
- The West Dorset 2nd team are relegated from Division 1 AGAIN.
- The West Dorset 1st team win the WD Knock-Out Cup.
2011/12
- The West Dorset 2nd team win the WD Knock-Out Cup but are relegated from Division 1.
2010/11
- The South-East Somerset 1st team lose the SES Knock-Out Cup by a mere 12 points.
- The West Dorset 2nd team win the WD Knock-Out Plate beating the 1st team in the final.
- Both West Dorset teams survive a season in Division 1.
2009/10
- The West Dorset 2nd team are promoted as champions of Mixed Division 2 and will join the 1st team in Division 1, who despite finishing bottom are not relegated due to League re-structuring.
- Dave Calway and Adrian Cocker win the WD Handicap Tournament (Mens Doubles).
2008/09
- The West Dorset 2nd team win the WD Knock-Out Cup but are relegated from Division 1 without winning a single match.
- The West Dorset 1st team survive in Division 1 - but only just.
2007/08
- Living up to its name, the club relocates once more, this time to Oxley Sports Centre in Sherborne.
- The introduction by the West Dorset Badminton League of a new League format (the FourTwo League) running in tandem with the existing Mixed League affords the club the opportunity of withdrawing the 3rd team from the Mixed League and entering them into the FourTwo League.
- The West Dorset 2nd team finish top of Mixed Division 2, joining the 1st team in Division 1.
- The West Dorset FourTwo team finish mid-table in the League's inaugural season.
- Ali Caller wins the WD PartnerSwap Tournament (Ladies).
2006/07
- The West Dorset 2nd team win the WD Knock-Out Plate.
- The West Dorset 3rd team win the WD Knock-Out Cup - a trophy that continues to elude the 1st team!
- The West Dorset 1st team are runners-up in Division 2 and are once again promoted to the top flight.
- Mike Read and Jo Searle win the WD Divisional Tournament (Div 2).
2005/06
- The club relocates back to Westfield School.
- The South-East Somerset 1st team finish 2nd in Division 2 and are promoted to the top division once again.
- The West Dorset 3rd team finish 2nd in Division 3 and are promoted, meaning that all three teams will be in the same division next season.
- Stephen Rowell and Sarah House win the WD Divisional Tournament (Div 2).
- Babs Bugden wins the WD PartnerSwap Tournament (Ladies).
2004/05
- Stephen Rowell and Jo Godley win the WD Divisional Tournament (Div 3).
- Jackie Malton wins the WD PartnerSwap Tournament (Ladies).
2003/04
- The club relocates to Yeovil College.
- The West Dorset 3rd team win the WD Knock-Out Plate.
- Nikki Harrison wins the WD PartnerSwap Tournament (Ladies) with Steve Meen winning the corresponding Mens Tournament.
2002/03
- The West Dorset 1st team are relegated from Division 1 but didn't finish in last place, a victory of sorts.
2001/02
- The South-East Somerset 1st team finished in second place in Division 2.
- The West Dorset 1st team finish top of Division 2.
- Not to be outdone, the West Dorset 2nd team finish top of Division 3.
- The West Dorset 3rd team credibly finish the season off the bottom, and with the League being restructured find themselves also being promoted.
- Karen Helyar wins the WD PartnerSwap Tournament (Ladies) while Dave Cornelius wins the Mens Tournament.
- The club decided to enter a team into the Summer League organised by Weymouth Sports Centre and the team, Wessex Warriors, finsihed top of Division 2.
2000/01
- The club enters a 3rd team into the West Dorset League, where they initially struggle, finishing bottom of Division 4 without a win.
- The West Dorset 2nd team win the WD Knock-Out Cup.
1999/2000
- Following changes to the League's constitution, the club entered two teams back into the South-East Somerset League.
- Surprise! Surprise! The West Dorset 1st team are relegated from Division 1 having lost every match and finishing some 27 points adrift of the next team.
- On a cheerier note, the West Dorset 2nd team are promoted from Division 4 after finishing in 2nd place.
- Mike Read wins the WD PartnerSwap Tournament (Mens).
1998/99
- The West Dorset 1st team win the WD Knock-Out Plate.
- Meanwhile, the team finish 2nd in Division 2 and are promoted to the top flight, a trip that could prove to be extremely short-lived!
- The West Dorset 2nd team finish bottom of Division 3 and are relegated.
1997/98
- The club changes from using plastic shuttles to use feather shuttles in all match and club play following a period of experimentation.
- The club reluctantly decide to withdraw the team from the South-East Somerset League based on the cost of affiliating all players to the BAofE.
- Stephen Rowell and Jo Way win the WD Divisional Tournament (Div 2). They also win the WD Handicapped Tournament.
1995/96
- The West Dorset 1st team miraculously survive in Division 2.
- The West Dorset 2nd team finish as runners-up in Division 4 and gain promotion once more.
1994/95
- The West Dorset 1st team finish 3rd in Division 3 and gained promotion by default.
- Going one place better, the 2nd team are 2nd in Division 5 and are deservedly promoted as of right.
- To complete a good season all round, the West Dorset 2nd team win the WD Knock-Out Cup.
1993/94
- The West Dorset 1st team survive Division 3 but the 2nd team find the going too tough in Division 4 and are relegated.
1992/93
- The South-East Somerset team finshed top of Division 3.
- The West Dorset 1st team win the WD Knock-Out Plate, the club's first piece of silverware, albeit for losers!
- The West Dorset 1st team finish as runners-up in Division 4 while the 2nd team are 3rd in Division 5. Both teams are promoted.
- Neville Taylor wins the WD PartnerSwap Tournament (Mens).
1991/92
- Entered a second team into the West Dorset League, playing in Division 5 where they finished mid-table.
- The West Dorset 1st team are relegated again! Ho hum!
- Jackie Malton wins the WD PartnerSwap Tournament (Ladies).
1990/91
- All matches are moved to the newly-built Westland Sports Centre allowing club nights to expand at Westfield School.
- The West Dorset team finishes in 5th spot in Division 4 and are promoted once again!
1989/90
- The South-East Somerset team finish 2nd in Division 2.
- The bubble bursts - the West Dorset team are relegated!
1988/89
- Amazingly the West Dorset team finished in 2nd spot in Division 4 and are rewarded(!) with promotion to Division 3.
1987/88
- The West Dorset team finished a credible 4th and got promoted to Division 4.
1985/86
- Entered a team into the West Dorset Badminton League where despite finishing 2nd from bottom in Division 6 they still get promoted!!!
1984/85
- Entered a team into the South-East Somerset Badminton League.
1982
- Social badminton club formed by Malcolm Green, playing at Westfield School in Yeovil.
