End of season tournament 2013/14

With twice as many men playing as women a slightly different format for the tournament was devised...
Players were divided into three groups drawn at random:
Group A had all ladies partnering half of the men
Group B had the same ladies partnering the remaining men
Group C had all the men playing level doubles

Everybody played in 2 of the 3 groups and everybody played the same number of games.
Matches within each group consisted of a single game to 15 points with no setting, starting from scratch.
A hidden handicap was assigned to every player.

At the end of the tournament, all points scored by every player across all groups in which they played were totalled and the hidden handicap was applied. Positions were decided by the player (man or woman made no difference) who had the greatest total with handicap adjustment.
In the event of a tie, the player with least points conceded took precedence.
If still equal, the player with the smaller handicap took precedence.

Most of the matches scored fairly much as expected with some very close results indeed.
Some played above themselves and deserved the higher standing the scores provided.
There were however some scores that could not have been foreseen that played havoc with the overall positions.
On the whole though everyone played well and hopefully enjoyed the evening.
